Best known for her Grammy-winning song "From a Distance," Julie Gold has written for and had songs covered by a diverse range of artists including Bette Midler, Patti La Belle, Patti LuPone, the Byrds, Judy Collins and Jewel. A native Philadelphian now based in New York City, Gold has worked very closely over the years with Nanci Griffith, who has recorded her songs "From a Distance," "Heaven" and "Southbound Train," among others.
Film credits include "Thanks To You," from the film Andre and "Dream Loud," which was featured in Unfaithful, and has been adopted by several divisions of the Girl Scouts of America. Gold has served on the Board of Governors for NARAS and taught songwriting at Baruch College and at the New School.
